Being recognised as a School of Sanctuary means our school has shown a clear commitment to making sure every child and family feels welcomed, safe, and supported to thrive. Safeguarding is our highest priority.
The Schools of Sanctuary programme is not political — it simply helps schools to understand why people seek safety and to lead with kindness and humanity.
We are proud to be a school where every child feels safe, where individual needs are understood, and where pupils are equipped to be kind and thoughtful members of our community.
We are incredibly proud to be presented with the School of Sanctuary Award. This recognition celebrates our ongoing commitment to creating a safe, welcoming, and inclusive environment for all. To achieve this award, we have demonstrated our commitment to raising awareness of the experiences of refugees and to fostering a culture of compassion, acceptance, and kindness within our school community. We are honoured to be recognised as a place where everyone is valued and supported.
Our Refugee Week committee delivered the rucksacks filled with your generous donations to The St Augustine’s Centre. They were treated to a tour of the centre and learned more about the vital work being done to support people seeking asylum and refugees in our community. It was a humbling experience, where kindness, love and gratitude was in abundance. Thank you to everyone who contributed. Your support is helping to make a real difference.
Our Rotakids group has been supporting the Calderdale Valley of Sanctuary by creating messages of welcome and hope on Jenga blocks which have then been packed with toys and helpful leaflets for refugee children in the Calderdale community.
