Right to Withdraw from Religious Education (RE)
At Lightcliffe C of E Primary we recognise and respect the diverse beliefs and values of our pupils and their families. In accordance with Section 71 of the School Standards and Framework Act 1998, parents/carers have the legal right to withdraw their child from all or part of Religious Education(RE) lessons.
Religious Education at our school is taught in line with the syllabus agreed by the Diocese of Leeds and aims to promote understanding, respect, and knowledge of a range of religious and non-religious worldviews. However, we understand that some families may wish to exercise their right to withdraw for personal, religious, or philosophical reasons.
If you wish to withdraw your child from RE, please contact the Co-Headteachers in writing to discuss your request. We will work with you to ensure that appropriate alternative arrangements are made during RE lessons.
We remain committed to fostering an inclusive environment where all pupils feel respected and valued.
